Fun Tuesdays!!

First let me say a fond farewell to Andy Griffith, an accomplished actor that many of us remember from his role as Sheriff Taylor of Mayberry on The Andy Griffith Show to his role as Ben Matlock on Matlock. Honestly he is a fond memory for me. I was going to write more but since I don't want to turn this blog site into an obituary, I will say how much joy his creative gifts have given me over the years.

Rizzoli and Isles is a quirky crime fighting drama on TNT about detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) and her medical Examiner friend Maura Isles(Sasha Alexander). Another great break in casting is Lorraine Bracco, (fresh from The Sopranos) who plays Jane's mother Angela. Angela works in the Boston Police cafe, freshly separated from Jane's father, she is close enough to provide some quirkly plot twists. Recently Angela was trying to get the officers to order online, and set up a controversial blog (Angela's Cafe and Crime) until Jane had the Barry Frost (Lee Thompson Young) take it down. He had originally helped her mother setup the cafe's website. I love Lorraine, and the creator said it was the only actor they ever considered for the role.

The relationship between Jane and Maura is sparked by their differences, Maura is the more feminine in appearance, smart as a whip, yet some times ignorant of more base references. She speaks slightly like forensic scientist "Bones" Brennan of the show Bones. Both speak clinically without appearing emotional. Though she is very capable of being emotional at times.  Maura's bio dad is a famous mobster who just got wacked-off last show.  Jane on the other hand is Italian and emotional, she moves more like a tom boy, dressing more monochromatic, she speaks directly, is skeptical, and definitely more street wise.  Their differences make them great friends and makes for great television.  I was as happy as a clam when I found out that Angie Harmon got another TV show. In came on in 2010, so this is the 3rd season. Angie is a strong actor, and I used to love to watch her on Law and Order. Not that it matters really, but I think she is probably the most beautiful woman on TV.  She is married to Jason Sehorn, former football player, has 3 daughters, and looks like that. I probably should never meet her or see her on a talk show, if she giggles in a falsetto or says something stupid,  I will be quite disappointed.

Sasha Alexander is no slouch either, beautiful and talented she played Agent Kate Todd of NCIS, was in Yes, Man, and the movie, "He's Just Not That Into You".  She is married to Edoardo Ponti, and in case you did not know her mother-in-law is Sophia Loren. Wow, that is pretty incredible! They have 2 children. Both actors lend their immense talents to the bantering Rizzoli and Isles of Boston Police Department of Massachusetts.

My other guilty pleasure on Tuesdays is Dance Moms, or as we call it in my house is the Abby Lee Miller Dance Show.  I watch this with my son, what a laugh fest. It is a show that follows the junior performing team of the Abby Lee Miller Dance Studio in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Abby Lee is a truly original and unique character. She is the beautiful, robust, outspoken and a down right cantankerous dance instructor. She berates and barks orders at the soccer moms, who give as good as they get.  Abby is almost so good she can appear like a character, like no one could possibly be that brash in real life. I hear she is. The mothers watch their girls from the sidelines, accompany them on trips and a few are actually friends.

The talented girls are Maddy, Chloe, Brooke, Page, Nia, and MackenzieMaddy and Mackenzie are sisters, Maddy is the apple of Abby's eye and her mother is MelissaMaddy is an amazing dancer, who also does some acrobatics.  She wins most of her competitions.  Mackenzie seems to be following in her talented sisters foot steps.

Chloe is my favorite, her mother is Christy. Chloe is a beautiful dancer, she is lyrical, has long legs, and performs well in dark roles. Her mother thinks Abby doesn't give her the attention Chloe deserves, Chloe won a spot in music video, was chosen by American Ballet Theatre for summer camp, and did a commercial as dancing meat for Cathy of the Rotten (whoops) Candy Apple Dance co. Christy came back to the second season, with a much more beautiful and refined appearance, you have to look good for Television after all.

Kelly is Brooke and Page's mother.  Kelly used to take class from Abby, before she quit to be a cheerleader.  She has huge issues with how Abby treats Page and Brooke, though Brooke has already quit once to be a cheerleader only to return to the fold.  Page is a beautiful dancer similar to Chloe, long lean legs, and very lyrical.  Brooke is more athletic, and does great gymnastic moves. She is a strong dancer. Kelly seems to be at war with Abby and deliberately kept them out of competition for solos, which got them placed on probation by Abby.

Nia is a beautiful dancer, though not as technically smooth as some of the others. Her mother is Holly. Holly is well educated, and a principal of a school.  She had a harder time making all the events, but she did it.  This year she was going to take time off to spend more time with her kids, Nia in particular. Nia and Holly are African American, a fact Abby just seem to discover that last year, and gave Nia these exotic dances, Holly was insulted, so eventually Abby stopped doing it.

I love the way Abby throws chairs, the mothers fight amongst themselves and they fight with Abby. The show is hilarious, there isn't a dull moment.  The dancing is also beautiful.  Cathy from the Candy Apple Dance co. tried to have her daughter Vivi-Anne to work with Abby which now has turned them into enemies. Cathy is fun to watch, she has the voice of chalk scraping across the chalkboard.  She needs to be the center of attention and her daughter doesn't dance well and doesn't want to be there.  You can not have 2 alpha dogs in the same room, so Cathy had to go. She comes to competitions to cause trouble and try to win over Abby. Great TV!!! There are some that have come and gone, like Jill and her daughter Kendall (who ended up at Candy Apple), frankly the mothers are the best television with their fighting and trying to upstage each other.  All complain about Abby, yet Abby wins competitions. They always come back.  So tune in, I promise you will not be sorry.  Thank God, I have always thought Tuesday got lost in the middle of week, these shows make the night fun.
